Chandan123 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 can any one sugest prime containing iron oxide, which does not include chlorate or perchlorate?
Crazy Swede Posted June 13 Posted June 13 That is a strange question? Why do you want your prime to contain iron oxide? To react in a thermitic fashion with aluminium in the composition you want to light? Iron oxide does not react unless you have some of the ordinary metal pyro fuels present. It can work as a catalyst but that is seldom used in primes.

I am sure you want to ignite stars with prime... You may try BP plus 5 to 10 percent silicon.....or Black powder plus 10 percent barium nitrate plus 10 percent magnelium........ Just use screen mix bp for prime.....
rellim Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Here is a prime formulation from my notes. I have not tried it since I have potassium perchlorate. BP + .1 MgAl + .08 Fe2O2 (red iron oxide)
