dimitri Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 I made black powder and when burning it creates goops one of the hardened blobs is on the floor/surface and is yellow (maybe sulfur) and reacts somewhat violently with water. The other is more normal it goops into black smaller globs even without sugar the black powder is traditional recipe. I'm just eyeing the proportions so that may be why.
xag Posted March 4 Posted March 4 This is late, but if you see this, it'll be cool, i recently figured out that in a kno3 and sugar mix, there will be yellow puddles of goop if there is too much kno3 and a black powdery residue left if there is too much sugar. So adjust your BP ratios into a balanced mix. 75% KNO3 15% charcoal (carbon) 10% sulfur for BP don't eye the proportions, find reliable ratios and measure precisely.
