Zumber Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Not possible. Barium turns colour into aqua. FS powder is not compatible for complete reaction. 1
Crazy Swede Posted February 15 Posted February 15 What is FS powder? Please always spell out the proper name of ingredients. Barium nitrate, for fuck's sake!!! 1
Zumber Posted February 16 Posted February 16 To replace antimony trisulphide (as it is banned in our country) FS powder is alternative to that. FS powder is Ferric sulphite powder. Combination of Iron and sulphur.
Crazy Swede Posted February 16 Posted February 16 So, it is not iron sulfide (FeS) but iron sulfite (FeSO3*3H2O)? Never heard about the use of sulfite in pyrotechnics before! The sulfide on the other hand would have applications but I haven’t found it finely powdered yet.
Crazy Swede Posted February 17 Posted February 17 @Zumber and @MADBOY, could you verify if you mean the ordinary sulfide or if you actually are talking about the sulfite?
Zumber Posted February 17 Posted February 17 (edited) Let me ask supplier. I am not sure its chemical formulations but we purchased it as FX or FS ( sold as both names) powder. Edited February 17 by Zumber
Crazy Swede Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Must be the sulfide, FeS! It is a very hard material, from where do you buy it in powder form?
Sulphurstan Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Maybe an idea if you want to know if it; s FeS: Add HCl and if you have H2S rotten egg smell, you have FeS!

I think too because it is prepared to replace antimony sulphide(metal sulphide). And it is (FS) intended to use in glitter formulations to replace antimony
Mumbles Posted February 23 Posted February 23 That is definitely iron sulfide. Iron sulfites are known to exist, but are actually fairly rare. They're also only known for iron (II). They tend to be generally kind of pale green.
Zumber Posted February 24 Posted February 24 As winokur replaced antimony with ferric oxide and sulphur FS powder is designed to replace antimony And it is only useful for glitter formulations. Thank you for confirmation Admin..!
