Fireworks principles and other books

I've mainly been perusing the web and this forum for info,  I stumble upon fireworks principles and practices recommended a lot. Does the edition matter? I found a decent priced 1st edition but wonder if the newer editions offer enough more to justify the price? 

Any other recommendations instead?
