Hello Everybody,

I have been interested in pyrotechnics since I could remember. Glad that this site exists.

I plan on attending WPA's Do It 2015, and hope to meet some of you there.

Cheers!

Hi, My name is Howard, and I began making fireworks 50 years ago in high school when I realized I was never going to live in a state where I could buy them. In those days you looked for classified ads in Popular Science or Popular Mechanics magazines to find a source of chemicals and supplies. They typically were delivered by Railway Express Agency. What we wouldn't have given to have it as easy as the Internet makes it to communicate today! Along the way I took an extended break for an army career (no need to make pyro then; my need for flash, bang, the smell of smoke, and the sound of explosions came with the job.) and to raise a family. All that makes me sound older than I feel. Now an empty nester, I'm beginning to rekindle my interest in hobbies including hang gliding, scuba, magic, shooting sports, and last but not least pyrotechnics. I'm glad to join the forum!

Welcome, Howard! Glad to see someone at it for that long and coming full circle.

Hello to everyone on this great site. I've been lurking for a while now and just now figured I'd say hello. I worked for a display company for a few years 10 years ago and have always loved pyrotechnics. I've been wanting to gather enough information on how to make works for myself and family's enjoyment for years. I can remember being a little boy and my Nona (grandmother in Italian) telling me stories of how she and my grandpa used to make all sorts of fireworks back in Italy when they were growing up. I've had a strong fascination with the art ever since. I'll be joining a club or 2 in the near future. I've been a member on PyroUniverse since 2007 and Pyrofan since this past year.

I'm sure I'll learn a lot of informative things here:-)

Hey, Patrick here. At 50+ years of age I guess I waited long enough before indulging my love of pyrotechnics. I've been poring over this and other sites, gathering info and dusting off knowledge I haven't made use of in ages. I look forward to learning of and creating some beautiful things. Thanks

Hey folks. I'm a father of four bright kids, two grown and two still in high school. I'm always on the lookout for fun, creative ways to stimulate their interest in science and technology of all sorts. We did model rockets and high-powered rocketry several years ago and now I'm looking at pyrotechnics as a possible project for this school year. The high school pair love fireworks and I think it would be a rewarding experience if they could build their own. Alternatively, perhaps they could design their own for me to build if mama bear doesn't sign off on them working directly with things that go boom. Either way, I see an opportunity to learn something new.

Oops, sorry, I posted a somewhat "quasi" Introduction over in the Newby forum. Sorry. My name is Dan, I am 44 years old.

Anyway, I am new here, but not new to pyro. I started out with my love of Pyro when I was 8 years old my dad shot 1.3 displays at all of the area "stock car" races. I'd help them dig trenches for all of their STEEL mortars. Yep, it was old fashioned. He had 5-6 helpers "HAND LOADING" entire shows. Lighting each fuse by hand with road flares. I LOVED every minute. the smell.....the best.

Now, I am an adult, have kids a wife, and am a fully licensed outdoor display operator with my ATF permit. I am licensed in Wisconsin in both indoor and outdoor pyro. I have dabbled in making my own shells, my own chemical compounds, etc.

I have done indoor pyro from local show choirs, high school plays, on up to large events like Lady Gaga at the Target Center. I have built confetti canons, concussion pots, flash pots, airbursts, gerbs, and more

I have been a long time member at PyroUniverse and active participant, and I am also an Administrator over on the Pyroreview.com website, which we closed down a few years ago.

I hope to be able to contribute here as well.

I LOVE PYRO.

Hi, my name is Paul (not Mat, that's just the first three letters of my last name). I actually started in pyro when I was a 11. I was always a chemistry nerd and pyro was just a natural extension of that. Back then I didn't have any information resources, so I learned by experimentation. Hell, my first binder for stars was plastic model glue. Anyways, on my 12th birthday I had an accident where 3/4 oz of my first homemade flash went up in my hand. I didn't lose any digits, but my hand was covered in 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Suffice to say, my interest in pyro kind of went to the background, but I never completely lost it. (in my early 20's while working in the lab at an electroplating company, I developed my own formula for a scary-strong explosive. I only made a small amount of it, and that was it; until now. I lived in Milwaukee Wisconsin for most of my life and just about every type of pyrotechnic anything is illegal. I have recently moved to northeastern Missouri and fireworks are legal here. So, this last fourth of July the pyro bug bit me again. I have since read up a lot of info (and found out what I was doing wrong all those years ago) and am hooked... bad.

Hi all, fellow pyrotechnic here, i am absolutely hooked on fireworks, and anything to do with fire and loud bangs( responsible) since I was little

I currently live down under and fly under the radar until I get my pyro license next year and make do with everything I can.

I have hand made every single thing I can think of I need from ball mill to quick fuse to some of the fastest powder I think I have seen for a long time, with my passion for fireworks I have the utmost respect for this art form and seek knowledge of the best !

Happy pyro !

Hi everyone, my name is Corky and I have been afflicted with pyromania since I was very young. My father was a fireman, so I felt he needed job security. My hobbies include astronomy, geology, paleontology, archeology, chemistry, meteorology, fluid dynamics in karst systems, caving (speleology), surveying and mapping, writing music, writing (including tech manuals and other humorous musings), pyrotechnics (40 years), model rocketry (35 years), my most recent addition of micro blasting (3 years), or rock shaving as it is called in some areas and HE (30 years, where it applies to caving, mining and general rock mitosis). Oh, and reading anything to do with the aforementioned subjects, which is why I joined the forum.
