titaniumpyro Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Hello, I have been away from Pyro for a while but is seems the bug has bitten again. Lots of good reading material here to catch up.
colorfire Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Another Newbie and Newbie to making the fun. In the Gainesville Fl area. Looking forward to learning and showing some results soon. Go Boom! but not up to close. ;-)
heavycal Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Hello all. Been in the business for about 20 years now. Looking forward to participating in the forums.
Harlemflame Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hi there, new to the forum and have been playing round with pyro for several years and lost touch. Looking forward to getting back in to it.
Coyote Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hello. I joined here years ago, got raided, and left. I've done a few professional displays as a licensed pyrotechnician, but that's not my main job. I'm a fireworks enthusiast who is terrified of getting on a government watchlist. Female. Late 20s. I'll be around now and then. I should be at least hanging out on Passfire by now, but the intelligence agency visit a few years ago chilled everything. PM me and I'll tell you my rough location if I trust you. (I lurk occasionally, and I recognize some names better than others.) I used to order Skylighter books with an American mailing address. I'm very vigilant about safety. If I get raided again, I may have to give up on fireworks entirely. 1
Dragonflightpyro Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Hi everyone. After a disappointing 4th I have been obsessed with this new discovery of home pyrotechnics. Here in PA, we have strict regulations on fireworks. Basically allowed small fountains, sparklers, ground spinners, and the like. Nothing that propels into the air. The cost of the crappy ground pyrotechnics we are permitted to have is embarrassing. After watching The Crazies on youtube, I understand why ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcS_BzvJUbE ). The fireworks for sale seem to be a complete scam. This brought me to the question: could I make better fireworks. I definitely want to. I don't have a license (or experience) so I will be focusing only on fireworks that are legal in my area. That still leaves a huge amount of potential for improving my pyro experience! I can't wait to get started.
wizard7611 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Hello, my name is Joseph. Pyrotechnics have always been a dream of mine ever since I shot off my first firework. I plan to start a mortar tube business later on, as well as my own brand of fireworks. I am 15 years of age, love to game, and have a heart for soccer. Edited July 6, 2015 by wizard7611
TheChemist Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Greetings,My name is Ollie. I live in Germany and have been into pyro for more than 25 years. I’m a chemist and licensed pyrotechnician in my country. I am especially interested in in PT composition development and processing and in chemical compatibility of ingredients. Another field of work is the chemical analysis of PT compositions and spectral analysis of their performance.I visited this forum for quite some time and believe it to be the best place for pyros who like to share and discuss new ideas and developments.Better late than never: I finally joined APC. I’m looking forward to be a part of this pyro community…
Asymetric Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Hello everyone. Names Mark. I have been iterested in anything powerfull since forever, but some misadventure with some shotgun shells, a glass orange juice bottle and a few days in the hospital when i was 12, kinda tought me fear instead of respect. Its 23 years larer and i think i act with a little more intelligence and responsibility. (Wife might argue) I have already read back about 50 pages into the newbie help forum. There is enough there to get n idea about what kind of equipment i will ave to find/build. My son (4) loves fountains, and if it were up to him, i would be spending $100 a week at the "TNT store" So i am hoping to be able to order some stuff and have a couple fountains to test in the next couple weeks. For myself, i would really enjoy some areial shells that dont cost a fortune and look better then a lit fart. I am a machinist, machine builer, and general fbricator and will be starting my first year of school for mechanical engineering this fall. I absolutely love buildig things, repairing things, or modifying them to male them better. I already have a design drafted up for a ball mill and will start making the molds for the castings this weekend. Just thought i would say hi and let everyone know ahead of time that im not an idiot that wants to blow things up. Been there, done that, not fun at all.
DDuck Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Hello, my name is David and I have been lurking on the forum and reading a lot on amateur pyro for the last several months. Hoping to learn a lot till I get the time to start building some small shells.
froggyb99 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 hello im Brendan just getting started with fireworks 1
Noxsol Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Hey, I'm Tom, a firedancer from the UK, always had an interest in chemistry and explosives (mainly vicarious through youtube and manuals) and I've come here to expand upon and refine that with the aim of adding a dimension to my perfomances. Glad to meet y'all. 1

pyralex Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I'm kbk, I run my own forum, which is loosely related to this one. I am 16, live in Ohio (it sucks ass), and enjoy drinking and smoking cigars, as well as being an "ignorant racist" haha. Edit: I also like computers, Linux, hardware, etc, and HE, I like that too.can we meet up? i love being ignorant and racist. darn you multi-national school in which i go to, believe me in NEW YORK state it sucks even more

Norwest Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Greetings, Have been interested in fireworks since I was a kid and have a little experience making rudimentary fireworks and building model rockets. I have always wanted to learn more about making fireworks and am just beginning to read up and get started. I am a Scientist (drug development biologist) but also have chemistry experience so I am quite fascinated by the chemistry behind firework manufacture. My son and I are amateur geologists and rock hounds so that adds another tread of interest regarding the use of metals and other minerals in fireworks. I hope to learn the ins and outs of making fireworks and fireworks safety form you all on the forum. Thomas
boblangdon Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Howdy! Very nice place you have here. I used to "dabble" in pyrotechnics when I was youinger (back in the '70s).I'm finally finding some time to get back into it again, only at my age I can afford to take a much more serious approach this time around (big booms don't seem nearly as thrilling as they did when I was a youngster [yawn]).;-)My, my, how the world of pyro has changed over the years!New chemicals, new techniques, and much SAFER products and techniques.I've learned a lot lurking here for the last few weeks. I'm looking forward to continued learning, and painting some lovely pictures in the clouds.:-) Edited July 22, 2015 by boblangdon 1
jayearl Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Hello, I'm from Las Vegas and interested in trying to make the old, retro, sparkle matches. I have found a few books of them I've saved for the past 30 years and just showed my teenage kids. They love them and I'm hoping to find a recipe and some advise on this site. 1
CouveGuy Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Hello all from the Pacific NorthWest! I've been firing consumer (1.4g) for a lot of years and now want to learn about proffesional work and of course safety. I've been reading about some of the accidents that occurred and my paranoia now extends to proper PPE. I am so glad that people have the courage to share their incidents so others can learn from them. Steve 1
