Just wanted to introduce myself so I can read some of the archives on safety.

I also love your KeyCAPTCHA on signup, never seen that one before! I like it better than reading some stupid blurry image that is all twisted and you can't get it right.

Old but still a newbie. Have time for other things now, always wanted to study chemistry and I am. Use to do the Estes Rocket thing in the 50's/60's. Had a Camerock. Used a small circular piece of film (black and white), string attached to shutter and pinched by nose cone, when the ejection charge went off it went click! The rocket was pointed down then. Developed in home dark room. Wish I could find some of the contact prints I made. Probably less than a 1000 feet. Instead of buying film from Estes use to go to total darkness and cut circles from 126. If you understand any of this then you are old too.

I understood and welcome, Bill. Old is when you upgrade to a Brownie and I'm not talking the eating or girl scout kind. ;)

well, I'm not too interested in this "forum" stuff, but here goes;

my name is Charlie. I am a mechanic by trade, and have been fooling around with compositions ever since a cousin introduced me to saltpeter/charcoal/sulphur when I was maybe 10 (a long time ago).

my reason for "joining" this is twofold. I need more information, and I need to learn how to do it properly. my past attempts have worked well, for the most part, but they have been sloppy at times.

My frustration with this whole deal comes when, after seeing/producing any mixture/method, I can't see or test my efforts as I live in a city. oh well.

Hello,

A late introduction from me ^_^

I am Ubehage, from Denmark. I came into pyrotechnics as a BOOMER, but very quickly discovered that it wasn't really all that fun once you knew how to make big booms.

Kinda like the sour apple that looks so tasty when it's out of reach :D

So for the past 9 months, I have been reading, watching videos, collecting chemicals, trying out compositions, and working on my pyro-workshop.

And I hope that in the spring I will be ready to start making something useful.

Welcome aboard, you picked a really good time of year to tool up.

Ooops... been in here for months but never found the introductions page.

Hi..My friends call me Halo.

I'm living in a nanny state but have re-discovered the pyro compulsion.

I started out making my own in high school with zinc dust/sulphur, but I remember when in primary school we could go to the corner store and leave with an armload of fireworks for less than a dollar.

Wish I could still do that !.. bring back the 60s.

Hello, I'm Titanium from Germany, I liked Fireworks and also chemistry since I was a child and tried to build some pyrotechnic things with the less materials I could get in my country.

But since 2012 I know where to get my chemicals and tested many different pyrotechnic compositions such as stars, strobes, flash, blackpowder, etc.

In this year I builded my first Shells (4") for New Years Eve, because I can get in big trouble in my country if I fire espacially big things such as Shells during the year.

I opened an account because I like it to exchange informations about our hobby and also here are many like-minded people :)
