naamang Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hello, I'm Naaman. Just getting some info on pyro electronic ignition via the christmas light method. Looking to strap Roman Candles to my RC quadcopter and ignite them remotely via my transmitter > receiver > 12v relay switch > christmas light igniter. I fly this via on-board camera and video transmitter (FPV), sending the video back to the ground station receiver/monitor.... much like a video game but in real life. Anyways, looking forward to learning more about the science of pyro techniques from those of you in the know. See you in the forums!
johnnypep Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 My introduction and first post to the forum. I'm John aka "Johnnypep." "johnnypyro" would be a more suitable pseudonym since catching the firebug late last year. I stumbled upon this hobby late last year while researching ways to remove tree stumps and split large logs with black powder (yes, I was successful). Since that time, I began the pursuit of acquiring a state and federal license to legally manufacture fireworks , but as a hobbyist only. Fortunately, the Deputy Fire Marshall from the County is a childhood friend, and I was glad to discover that she supports the pyrotechnic community here. This week Il'll put on my first backyard display for a few friends and family. Wish me luck! John

You won't be happy to know that this is super illegal in the USA and probably other countries
Miestroman Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Hello all, Greetings from USA. My son has a sparked interest in fireworks from the chemistry side. I thought it would be good to embark on this Journey together, and we ended up here! Looks like a cool place, with nice folk. trying to help him learn. He's really excited and this seems to be a good place to start safely. Thanks for your work admins!Ray Edited July 3, 2014 by Miestroman 1
Milyan720 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 My name is Milan, I am 15 years old ,my brother (21 years) had taught me how to build sparkler rockets/bombs a few years back. I live in Australia Im interested in pyrotechnics, electronics, and chemistry I would like to learn more about pyrotechnics a and chemistry, I've got access to a few chemicals hope to blow shit up!!! .... responsibly
BurritoBandito Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 This isn't going to go over well. Milyan720, there is nothing responsible about sparklers bombs. I hope you're looking to leave that kind of dangerous device in your past, and move on to making real fireworks. If not, you may want to find a different forum. APC isn't really the place for people who just want to "blow sh*t up". Just my 2 cents. 1
Paravani Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Hi, y'all! I left an intro on the thread "The sometimes fatal cost of this hobby" in the Rules and Announcements forum, but it seems appropriate to leave one here, too. My name is Paravani on all the discussion boards I join. So if you know of a "Paravani" on some other list who has an avatar that's either an eagle or a peacock, that's me, too. It isn't my real name, but my real name is so unique that I'd completely lose all privacy if I used it on discussion boards. The NSA and DHS know who I am, I'm sure; anyone else who has a need to know can PM me. I'm American born and raised, incurably curious to know everything, and old enough to know how to keep myself out of trouble. I have a BSEE and I'm good at math, chemistry, electronics, computer programming. I'm also good at cooking, baking, gardening, metalworking, and about anything else that requires a basic understanding of chemistry or engineering principles. I also enjoy home improvement, assembling and fixing things, and reading reading reading. Pyrotechnics seems to have risen to the top of my endless list of things I want to learn. It's cool, it's complicated, it's both art and science, and it's dangerous, too! The best of all worlds, n'est-ce pas? ;-D I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now, and won't be posting much until I know enough either to ask the right questions... or to give better answers than the ones already given on a thread. -- Paravani
oldfella Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hello people! I am Andrea, 43 from Italy.I make shells for fun since a little year and my interest just rises with time. I made ball shells of various sizes but what I really like are the shells from south of Italy, with multiple breaks and huge thunder reports. Until now I just read articles around but never felt I knew enough to post but I am curious to see pictures people post. See us around !! 1
pyropro Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 wow lot of cool stuff here looking forward to learning things J 1
Roguehk Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hi just joined and am trying to learn to make shells with lift charges. 1
dagabu Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Welcome guys, remember that we are not a group of flash or report k3wlz, this is all about real fireworks and the careful study of their manufacturer. Read through the rules etc. 1
gregh Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Hi everyone, my name is Greg, and I am relatively new to the hobby (less than a year). I have been to this site many times and read numerous threads, but figured it's finally time to join the community. Thanks in advance for all the support and knowledge that I know will get from this group. 1

flinters17 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Hello guys, I've been doing small shows in my backyard for a few years with consumer fireworks, and I wanted to up the ante so to say. I come from a chemical background as a chemical engineer so this stuff is very interesting to me and I hope to get very proficient at it. I plan to start small, BP, fountains, sparklers, etc. Hopefully by next year I'll be making decent shells and such. Anyway you'll probably see me around the forums absorbing all the information I can, I look forward to talking with you guys about pyro! -flinters17 1

There are a few other folks here that like chemistry, too. It's good to post stoichiometric formulas now and then, to help the folks who don't have chem backgrounds understand what proportions work the best and why. Welcome! -- Paravani
Towskister Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) Hello, My name is Robert. I am from SW Florida. I love chemestry. and love pyrotechnics. Edited July 16, 2014 by Towskister
FlareLauncher Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Welcome, noobs! I, too have been drawn here to learn. This is a wonderful place to learn, and is relatively 'flameproof', if you'll pardon the pun. I have learned a lot here already, and am thankful for the incredible levels of expertise I have found here. These folks will do a LOT to teach you, while keeping you safe and legal. I sure hope you all have as much fun here as I do!
dagabu Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Welcome all, we are a good bunch of lads, little flaming going on as long as you dont come here looking to make bombs, bangers, flash or destructive devices. This is about pyrotechnics and the art thereof. 1
