Uarbor Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 (edited) I have been pushing the limits of my spiral wound tubes and finally had one pop on New Year's Eve. It was my wife's favorite firework of the evening LOL Edited January 1, 2023 by Uarbor
Uarbor Posted January 1, 2023 Author Posted January 1, 2023 So anyway I've got these rockets lifting 4-in shells like they are nothing. My ultimate goal by the 4th of July is to have some 5-in round shells go up on these Rockets. They are Universal tooling 1 lb Rockets using homemade weeping willow charcoal 75/15/10. I am still using spiral wound tubes so that I don't waste my good ones in the experimentation process. But I have a good supply of Woody's tubes. If I use Woody's tubes I think I can get away with hybridizing it with a little bit of whistle. Here is a video of a 4-in shell going up on one of these Rockets on New Year's Eve
cmjlab Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 They look nice! Looks like you have them dialed in pretty good with your tooling. As to maybe using some whistle to boost your rockets (as well as other rockets you can make with the Hybrid Universal (H/U) Tooling) - have you read any of the Steve LaDuke information floating around? I believe the H/U from Woody's is based on LaDuke's tooling specs. I've seen LaDuke's info a couple times about a number of rockets you can make with that tooling (I think a total of 6 or 7 rockets), like B.P. Cored, B.P./Whistle (Hybrid), Strobe, Long Winded Screamer, etc. Anyways, it has a lot of good info if you can find it, I'll look around too if you're interested. Charles
Uarbor Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 They have a sharp zip.Nozzle or not? yes there is a nozzle but since it is universal tooling it is quite a large opening.

Charles yes I do have that information. That's where I got the idea of adding some benzo whistle for a beginning point. I think I am doing pretty well with hot black powder I am going to make a 5-in shell see what it weighs and then build a dummy header and see how it does.
