MrBOOMbastic Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Anyone know why Lowes/Home Depot no longer carries Denatured alcohol??
Richtee Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 They might not be able to get t. HD did not have 1 can of exterior varnish need to re-do my front doors. Odd... plenty of interior.
h0lx Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 probably shortage, because recently most of the global supply was converted to hand sanitizer
Arthur Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Assume that many random lines may be missing from shops. The need for IPA for hand cleaner wiped out the alcohols industry -everything was set to make IPA not denatured ethanol. Many things will come back to normal.

Hell..the Traverse City Distillery went to 2nd run ethanol instead of whiskey for 8 months I think. ‘Bout 170 proof/85% I think. Denatured it tho...sad But it came in their whiskey bottles. Appropriately labeled of course. Edited November 4, 2022 by Richtee
SharkWhisperer Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Anyone know why Lowes/Home Depot no longer carries Denatured alcohol??Yeah, HD don't seem to be stocking it in parts of the S USA. Walmart will ship it if you don't mind paying $38/gallon. I'm sure Duda Diesel has some in stock. Liquor store carries non-denatured 190 proof (95%) Everclear or similar if you're not in a nanny state. Dual use! Haven't seen any shortage of IPA 91% in Walmart stores or online either if that will sub appropriately for EtOH, and price is only about 25% higher than pre-pandemic. It's available.
