stupid question - subbing AP for KP to make a color star (not rocket fuel)

I have and can get KP, but the colored rocket fuel uses AP (color strobe)

I like the formula because it's simple (4 components)

I understand that I'll lose most of the strobe effect (could I add a carbonate or sulfate to get it back?)

Would love to get AP... but it's the US and...

I guess I could make a 50/50 of AN and KP, mix thoroughly and let age... but I'm not fond of spontaneous energetic reactons

Like RichT said...where are you looking for AP to have given up so easily. Not so rigorously, it seems. AP is available without restriction, all over the place. Dude on TRF just sold 80 pounds last week (https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/propellant-chemicals.171458/). You can buy 90, 200, and 400 micron AP by the pound at Pyrochemsource almost always (https://www.pyrochemsource.com/Oxidizers_c_13.html). Several other places sell in bulk for a decent price. The APCP experimental rocketry folks would have seizures if AP wasn't freely available.

 

"but it's the US and..." ??? Nice part of living in the US is we have free availability of chems that our friends elsewhere do not. AP included.

Chems that are retail in the USA have already gone from much of the world's retail. KP is now not available retail in the UK and EU, it was leaking in from Russia but....

 

This was the situation that Swede predicted leading to two long threads on this forum.

 

My answer to the OP is that I have successfully used KP in a blue formula that said AP
