cosmarchy Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I've been experimenting on various mixtures for smoke bombs and have come up with really only one formula which has 'worked' for me so far which is KNO3, sugar and wax. As I'm doing a lot of various ratios of mixtures, I'm getting through rather a lot of tubes so thought that it might be a good idea to invest in some metal tubes as I can just reuse these but what I'd like to know is what size hole is appropriate in the cap to avoid it becoming a pipe bomb... Clearly I could just leave the cap off but I'm cautious of the mixture being hygroscopic (with the sugar and KNO3 elements) making it useless. I really don't rain or moisture getting in there either, so thought of a cap to 'preserve' the contents until use. Thanks
Richtee Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 You can “cap” it with a pipe cap. And the hole should be at least .250” quarter inch. the paraffin mix is not all that excitable.
