Finally Attempting My Type 54 (In Nebraska). Any Tips?

Hello All,

I am finally attempting to secure my Type 54 License here in the great state of Nebraska (Lincoln).

I have done the following:

- Joined the Midland Pyro Association, as an apprentice. They have invited me and my wife to come out and help set up next weekend.

- Got signed up for the Shooters Safety Course this upcoming Fall with Schneitter Fireworks & Importing Company out of St. Joseph, MO. They do not do a Shooters Safety Course in Nebraska according to the MPA group I am in.

- Downloaded the ATF Orange Book.

- Downloaded the ATF FEL Application.

- Schneitter Fireworks & Importing has agreed to be a contingency storage for me.

Why I am wanting a Type 54:

- For private non-commercial use of Class B fireworks on my own land to enhance my own shows.

- For private non-commercial use of constructing Class B fireworks and shooting off on my own land.

- My family has 300 acres of private land, about 3/4 is used for cash crop farming; and the other 1/4 is for our ponds, and whatever we want basically.

- To finally be legal, and do right by the law and by myself. This is just a hobby but something that I've always wanted to pursue here and there. There is no denying that I love the louder is better fireworks (they are my favorite), but I have started to appreciate color as well.

Some Questions I have:

- In what order should I be doing everything. The club I joined said to join their club 1st, help setup next weekend as step 2, read the orange book and take test is step 3, shooters class is step 4 (or do ATF after this class), step 5 would be a public display operators license and Lincoln doesn't have any provisions I.E. you do not have to have any shoots under your belt to take the test.

Any other tips you all could provide me?

Thank You!

Good on you. Congrats in advance.

You're going to want to organize the details of a secured magazine and where it'll be placed on your property. The Orange book has the necessary specifications for consideration.
