gas generator compostion

excluding blackpowder which is too smokey and azides, i am after a simple gas generation composition, quick acting.

 

any obvious compostions come to mind ?

 

maybe based on ammonium perchlorate , Ammonium nitrate possible , nitrocellulose?

 

i guess nc as flash cotton might be suitable.

 

looking for ideas.

There is always the "oxygen candle" from submarine use or the emergency oxygen generator from civil airliner drop down masks. High chlorate and a little fuel and some iron to reduce the chlorine content.

Most things like small confetti canons use some kind of nitrocellulose either as a white fluff or as shotgun powder.

15 nitroguanidine

50 Guanidinium nitrate

66.8 ammonium nitrate

6.7 potassium nitrate

21.5 diammonium 5,5'-bi-1H-tetrazolate

5.0 glass fibers (SiO2)

 

Both need strong confinement to burn quick, #3 is the fastest one.

 

 

Is liquid a possible solution and gas in the form of a mixture of steam and oxygen ok for your application?

 

Strong hydrogen peroxide (at least 40 % I think) dissociates very quickly into steam and oxygen when a small amount of potassium permanganate is added.
