Safe alternatives to diapering flash?

Recommended Posts

Diapering is of course the classic, perhaps standard way, yet I wonder about the risks/hazards of, for instance, putting the ingredients into a paper bag, or a plastic baggie, then gently letting them mix without friction (wearing grounders!). I refer here to flash amounts of 10-gms or less. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Who in the hell has ever diaper mixed a 10g batch of flash??? Seriously? Ridiculous.

Hand mix 10g of flash with glasses on. One of your first posts indicated that you exhaustively studied flash comps. Now you've forgotten everything you read? You're a propellant expert. Has that changed? Will a plastic or paper baggie be more likely to generate a static electricity spark? You know this, no? Do you think the Chicoms diaper-mix their bulk pounds of flash comps? Common sense, amigo. Some even screen mix it, oh my (not recommended) !!

For your stated knowledge and study base, you continue to embarrass yourself with trivial questions that you can sort out yourself, or have been discussed ad nauseum, on multiple threads on this site which you apparently cannot locate or are too lazy to locate.

Great on your grounder (that nobody needs/uses for 10g batches; try StaticGuard spray); you'll live long and prosper. With all of your digits, hopefully!

Energetics expert working on KS propellant recipes? Uhh,,,,ok. Keep flying those Aerotechs and Quest D16s.... Just got a few pounds of sorbitol to test some new catalysts; happy to send you some for free if you can't spare purchasing it from your Foundation's $2000 Go-Fund-Me request. Your write-up says you're testing new KS formulations right? Wonder if RN has any kind of serious lead on your goals? Spoken with Nakka, have you?

I will probably get murdered for saying this but i prefer a glass mason jar or plastic quart cup with a lid like restaurants use. Pour in your ingredients, put on lid,and swirl with your hand. It's,faster, mixes it up better, and easier to do than diapering, with less mess in my opinion.

You're better off shaking the shit in a paper lunch bag... Glass (screw-cap...friction) shards in your eyes are unpleasant.

A cleaned-out old polypropylene yogurt container with a snap lid (friction, but not a real concern til the chems are mixed) is possibly a better runner-up. Shrapnel possible, But more limited shrapnel, perhaps. Mason jars are for pickling and storing shine, not for mixing FP--didn't your Daddy teach you that??? Isn't there a rule in backcountry PA that if you're mixing flash in a glass mason jar, you need to have another jar nearby full o shine (for fun and for first aid) and have a lit cig hanging out of the corner of your mouth (just because; hold my beer...)? SOP, no?

If you're building large devices, sometimes it's just smarter to add the two weighed chems atop one another into its final resting place with no pre-mixing, finish construction, and rotate slowly and sufficiently for decent mixing.

Please stop shaking that stuff in a glass jar, ffs. Pretty please.

I use a static guarded quart sized freezer model Ziplock. Shakey-shake. It’s not THAT touchy. I mean Kperc and Al. I DO extinguish my cig while mixing the stuff tho :D

That works, too. If there's any question about humidity or static electricity, StaticGuard is cheap insurance...

You put out your cigarette first??? I thought the smell of a lit smoke got the chems excited to be together and sped up the mixing process. Hmmm.. Must've gotten some bad advice somewhere down the line.

I do hope that we can agree that the only purpose of mason jars is for pickling veggies after you've run out of shine that needs storing!

Save the shake and bake for binary mixing. Use a screen or diaper it.
