DrJones Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 I've been out of the loop and did not get the memo. Might y'all kindly re-educate me on correct 21st century terms and jargon for close-up fireworks, and shows using them? Back in the day we referred to "Pyrotechnics for the proximate audience," which works, but seems a bit awkward. And while on the topic, seeking to be more erudite and articulate on techniques with and of fire, I'll venture ask do "tableaux pyrotechnics" or "pyro tableaux" still exist? I grew up fascinated by and experimenting with the tiniest possible effects, all table-top, all more or less safe. It probably all began with the self-lifting floating napkin of fire. Flash paper was a cinch to make after careful study of Tenney L Davis, and due diligence with best practices, which led rapidly to flash string, flash cotton, et al. Once I was called upon to draft the correct recipe for nitrated hemp products. Now I'm keen for references and ideas on fireworks of nano-, micro-, and super-impressively small nature. I suppose I'm about to advance from sparks floating up Jacob's ladders and van de Graff light shows, even past glowing bridgewires and Mischmetal. Spark my imagination, please. Any pyro techniques for table-top entertainment? Might we avoid the calomel and Paris green? And yes! Sparklers count. Especially sparklers that burn like flying fish fuse.Is that even possible?Edward, in the Land of Enchantment
