klachner Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Hello, i am trying to build my own firework shell pasting machine. For prototyping i need to know how heavy the shells are and if my clamps can hold the heavy ones. Sadly at the moment i am not able to make some shelly by my own and weigh them, so maybe you could help me outI need the usual weight of 4" 5" 6" and 8" shells Thank you!
SharkWhisperer Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Hello, i am trying to build my own firework shell pasting machine. Sadly at the moment i am not able to make some shelly by my own and weigh them, so maybe you could help me outI need the usual weight of 4" 5" 6" and 8" shells Thank you! Please search the forum for "shell weight" in that little empty search box in the top right of your page and do a little reading before asking for a free tuggy. That should get you into the ballpark.
Arthur Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 ...and. Please remember that the weight depends on what's inside. Metals are often denser than other powders and rice hulls weigh almost nothing, so effects (stars etc) weigh much more than the burst charge. A 16" shell will likely weigh between 25 and 35kilos. Don't hope to have one machine to wrap all the shell sizes, note also that a machine can wrap a 3" shell in minutes but a 16" shell takes from half to one hour and uses much more tape.
a_bab Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I really don't think the weight would be a problem.In average, a 4" shell is 350g, a 5" shell is 500g, a 6" shell weights around 800g - 1kg, while an 8" would be 2-2.5 kilos, give or take 20% for these values. 1
