Pyro55 Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Sorry to bring bad news but,http://www.usdoj.gov/civil/ocl/cases/Cases...ion_opinion.pdf25 ft of fuse per year, that's ridiculous.Better stockpile fuse and other pyro supplies.
asilentbob Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 I guess you didn't notice... This is mentioned in the occasional depression thread. AND yeah its all rediculous...
Mardec Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Homemade visco will soon be available from every serious pyrotechnician I think
Caramanos2000 Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 I dont know if it limits ebay and skylighter etc or just firefox but I MUST KNOW. Also this document is what the government asked for in 2006 , dont think its the compromise reached according to this here link http://blog.skylighter.com/
jacob Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 i think i may have to break down and cry, and then get mad. i can't stand it, right when i FINALY scrape and claw enough money together for an order the cpsc kills it just so that thay can, ''protect the children'' pffffff, that's a load of bullcrap, there just taking away more freedom and wrecking more lives, i mean, what are the Purringtons going to do now, go out of business, but, this brings up my plan, if firefox shuts there doors and officaly closes down, then they wait a while and reopen under a new name, they'l be no restrictions right, or will that not work.
Mumbles Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 The shutting down and starting under a new name might work. It depends if the company is named in the injunction, or if it is the Purringtons themselves. I suspect it wouldn't work, but I also suspected this would turn out better. This is all the more reason to join a local club. They can help you aquire chemicals, or get licenced so you can get them yourself. I assure you, after seeing the prices for bulk chemicals you'll never want to order from skylighter or any other repackager again.
Phildo Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 The judgment says ...Defendants are hereby further permanently restrained and enjoined from participating in any transaction that involves selling, giving away, holding for sale, or otherwise distributing.... ..."Defendants" means Gary Purrington, Diane Purrington, G.Skyler Purrington, and Firefox, and each of their current and future directors, officers, agents, employees, servants, attorneys, successor corporations, and those persons in active concert or participation with any of them..... That would mean they can't start a new business.
Mumbles Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 That statement also makes it sound as if they can't get rid of the chemicals either. From what that says, they can't legally sell the chems off to anyone, even a licenced individual or company. It seems about the only thing that the CPSC will allow them to do is dump all 2,500 lbs of the perc in the pacific ocea. Maybe that could get the EPA to harass the CPSC for a while.

Mumbles, I talked to Firefox yesterday and was told they can sell to licensed (sp) individuals.
hst45 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I just read a post on E&W that Firefox can still sell as before for up to 60 days after April 30th? http://www.roguesci.org/theforum/showthrea...p?t=5996&page=3 (post #74, next to last on page 3) Has anyone else heard this? I'm not starting a rumor, just asking for confirmation, and maybe some happy news for a change.
tentacles Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I still haven't gotten confirmation for my order the other day, but it usually takes them a week.
Mumbles Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 The guy who posted that on E&W is pretty well respected in the pyro community as well as amateur chem. I'd believe what he has to say, but I'd like some confirmation.
Pyro55 Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 I just read a post on E&W that Firefox can still sell as before for up to 60 days after April 30th? http://www.roguesci.org/theforum/showthrea...p?t=5996&page=3 (post #74, next to last on page 3) Has anyone else heard this? I'm not starting a rumor, just asking for confirmation, and maybe some happy news for a change.I just placed an order with firefox. I wanted 20 lb. of KCl04, they could only sell me 1 lb.. I could not buy any fuse with this order....Thanks to the CPSC. We are becoming a nanny state.
tentacles Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I find it humorous, that for all the mention in the order about "dragon eggs", there is no injunction against selling lead tetraoxide, or bismuth trioxide. So we can make all the crackling microstars we want, still.
hst45 Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 As the inexorable shit-storm rolls down hill and picks up speed, check out Skylighter. Harry now can't/won't ship mag-aluminum alloy mixed with 51% shavings. A by-product of the CPSC asskicking of Firefox, no doubt. On this Memorial Day weekend, say a prayer in lament of our lost American liberty. Someday I'll be sitting on the porch, telling my grandchildren "i remember when you could buy "strike-anywhere" matches, and you could even own a .22 rifle. Why, you could light your charcoal grill using lighter fluid, and you didn't even need a permit." i wish i had an optimistic outlook of our future, or a hopeful view of a better tomorrow. i'm not a negative person by nature but goddamn-it, there hasn't been much to be optimistic about lately. The country is overrun by 21 milion foreignrs who violate the law by coming here, and we're about to reward them for their lawless actions by granting them status more favorable than those who were born here, or those who came here legally. How the fuck can a society give away the rights of citizenship, without requiring the responsibilities of citizenship to those same individuals. Not being able to get mag-aluminum shipped isn't really a big deal. We'll all adapt and overcome. In the cosmic grand scale of problems it's not brain cancer or a sucking chest wound, it's just one more small inconvenience. The problem isn't the goddamn Mg-Al, it's the downward spiral of our society as our freedoms are sucked into the vortex of the perceived collective will. In surrendering our rights and our responsibilities to a consensus of opinion, we crush ourselves into the center of that Black Hole (see Stephen Hawking) that sucks the life out of all that enters. Genius and creativity exist at the OUTSIDE of the circle. The people who invented the wheel, fire, black powder, scotch whiskey, and silly putty didn't do what everyone else saw, they did what THEY saw when no one else did, and I just don't see our society fostering those guys. We reward conformity, and restrict creativity. Oh, and did I mention you can't get Mg-Al shipped from Skylighter anymore? [No drunken rednecks were harmed in the production off this diatribe]
Jason Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I was about to place my first order with firefox, but apparently they can't sell more than 1 pound of potassium nitrate per year without an ATF license.
qwezxc12 Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 ...In surrendering our rights and our responsibilities to a consensus of opinion, we crush ourselves into the center of that Black Hole (see Stephen Hawking) that sucks the life out of all that enters.Perhaps well be lucky enough to be spit out from a Quasar in an alternate universe where NFA 1934, GCA 1968 and 1986 don't exist, CPSC stands for the "Civilian Pyrotechnics Support Committee" and exists solely to help newbies make good lift ...and cosmic Dark Matter turns out to be German Blackhead Al Well, one can dream, can't they?
al93535 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Man, this is indeed a horrible turn-out for firefox. Perhaps we can still be optimistic for skylighter. Harry is really screening orders and trying to be as legal as possible, so perhaps they cannot screw him over.
michigander Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Can't sell more than 1lb of potassium nitrate? That ridiculous. You could walk down to your local hardware store and buy a couple pound jars of stump remover at $5 a jar.
