Piccaso Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 I am not really looking for suppliers but more suggestions on what size star would be best for these for signal flares. I have made some with multiple small stars of 1/4" but would like to make a large single one. I would also like to know of any preferred smoke formulas and the pros and cons of the different tube lengths. I have made the bird bangers from a kit and they are nothing more than small black powder maroons with 50 grains of bp but bangers are not really my thing. I mean they work great for scaring the critters away from my chicken coop at night but other than that no real use. The commercial reload offerings I think can be much improved upon considering these are nothing more than small shells with really thick walls. I bet some comets or glitters would work well but I am unsure how to implement them since since a burst charge probably will blow them apart with such thick walls. I just was hoping for some guidence from someone more experienced at reloading these than me. I liked the ALS Short and long range commercial loads but they only sell to law enforcement now so I am forced to do this myself.
