Well that thing is, I read all kinds of stuff but I never really saw "Formulas" of Whistle rockets and Screamers... I dont know how to put it...

Since I'm still new to Rocketery, I have no idea of advanced types of "Special Effects" (If it is the proper term)

1. Is the whisteling powder also the propelant? Or it needs to be mixed with a propelant?

2. Are there defined formulas? Or is it a matter of trial and error, Maybe even nuzzle type (Not likely, But just to be sure...)

3. What are the risks of flying a rocket that is loaded with BP, without fins. Can it not crash into the ground, and god forbid cause injuries?

4. Must a firework rocket be made of Aluminium? Or just other less expensive more acsessive metirial?

By the way I am very sorry for these silly questions, But I am still an amature. And by the way yes I have read "Rocket_Manual_for_Amateurs_by_Capt[1]._B._Brinley"

But it was a bit foggy for me...

Thanks so much for all of your help!

Roy.

1.whistle mix(powder) is 70% KClO4 and 30% sodium/potassium benzoate or sodium salycilate.

2.anywhere from blackpowder/smoke mix to whistles, strobes, and composite propellants.

3.if the rocket is not fin stabilized use a stick, and make sure the rocket balances just below the nozzle.

4.NEVER use metal for rocket casings, because a cato will cause flying shrapnel, start off with hand rolled tubes(paper or manilla folders) which are cheap and easy to make.

Look in the rocketry thread for more information/to ask questions.

Any place that I can get more of these formulas?

Are there types of lists?

And perhaps someone has the formula of Screaming Banshee?

And sorry for asking but what does CATO mean?

It stands for Catastrophic At Take Off or CatasTrophic Take Off

You really need to read read read, thats all I can say. There are many good topics in the rocketry section. I advise you to start there, and also check out other forums for more information. Also check out www.pyrosociety.org.uk
