Nemo_Tenetur Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Hello! I got my hands on very cheap oxidizer : Potassium Perchlorate from Brazil, 50 kilogram for 99,-- Euro. The Potassium Nitrate on the left side for 22 Euro (25 kilogram), right side 24 Euro (25 kilogram). Does anybody know if these brands are suitable (grain size, purity etc.) ? http://i10.tinypic.com/687nexh.jpg http://i14.tinypic.com/6bdufx1.jpg
Mumbles Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Yep, both are fine. The top product is rumored to be the "spanish perc" going around the US now. People seem to really like it, very powerful stuff. The US imported product came in all caked, so grain size is a little harder to do as it is all being pre-milled. I have no idea about the grainsizes of the KNO3's, but chances are it will need to be milled. Most of the soln grade KNO3 I've seen is about the consistency of table salt.
pudidotdk Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I'm quite sure the potassium nitrate has the same paricle size as tablesalt or granulated sugar, maybe a bit finer
mormanman Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Where did you find it like was it a website or something.
Bug_X Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I have used the Krista K+ in blackpowder and it works great!
maximusg Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I have the exact same Haifa KNO3, It's the soluble Greenhouse Grade stuff, which means it's roughly the same size grain as Table Salt. Works perfect for All your Pyro needs. Man i wish i could get my hands on that much perc.
deadman Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I too have the same kind of Haifa-K. I wonder what uses perc has to be made in such large sacks. I know it is the blame of a lot of animal poisoning. Anyone know of any suppliers in the US or Mexico?
Nemo_Tenetur Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Mormanman: The Potassium Perchlorate is from a wholesaler in Spain, the Potassium Nitrate from two different agricultural shops in Germany. It seems that most supermarkets and small garden shops have mainly mixed fertilizers (i.e. NPK with trace elements "all-in-one"), it takes a lot of internet search and several telephone calls to find the desired pure Potassium Nitrate.
asilentbob Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 You are a very lucky man with that perc... make sure it goes to great use!
Nemo_Tenetur Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 The Potassium Perchlorate was really a hard nut. The usual pyro suppliers from USA won´t sell it oversea, in central europe the pyro laws are very hard and restrictive. There are some doubtful small websites and most expensive "laboratory chemical suppliers" - about 80-90 Euro per kilogram. My attempts in far east were also unsuccessful - they sell only 20 feet oversea containers with 20 metric tons (ouch!).
