Piccaso Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 (edited) Ok I was reading an article on crossetes and there was a mention of including pistol primers in them. What would be the purpose of this? I like to fully understand exactly what I am doing before I try it in any way. This was an area I was planning on visiting when I could afford more tooling but since I just bought a bunch a star pumps and plates from Caleb I have blown the pyro budget for this month. justvisiting Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 (edited) That was me. I've used the pistol primers for every crossette shell and they work perfectly every time. I've only done a few though. Gurus have declined to try it, so nobody else has either. It's not so much about the ideas we have, as who we are when we have them Here's a link to the 'tools':http://pyrobin.com/files/toy%20crossette%20loading%20tools.JPG Here's a video of me loading the crossettes:http://pyrobin.com/files/loading%20crossette.avi Here's the shell using those crossettes in action:http://pyrobin.com/files/Swisher%20crossette%20willow.MOV I believe the pistol primers help the crossettes crack with good timing, because they all heat up with good timing due to the thermal conductivity of the metal. Big words for something simple. They work just as well as the much more labor-intensive 'approved' methods. EDIT: I'd be surprised if somebody mentioned using pistol primers for crossettes in an article. What article mentioned it? Edited November 17, 2019 by justvisiting 1
