THEONE Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Do you guys know what glue can i use to glue BP for an electric igniter ?
spectra1 Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Try a simple NC lacquer with some fine BP mixed in
THEONE Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) At what % ? NC tends to crack i guess i should have to add smthing to become pore flexible. Edited June 19, 2019 by THEONE
spectra1 Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 I don't really know the %. About the consistency of syrup works well. Never had a problem with cracking. Post a pic of the ignitors as a reference
THEONE Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) I cant right now, but for me even NC itself is also cracking. Should dextrin work ? Edited June 19, 2019 by THEONE
spectra1 Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 What are you using to make the nc? I don't think dextrin would work well but you could give it a shot
Mumbles Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 For bridgewire ignitors, water based binders would tend to corrode the nichrome. You would probably want use something organic based. NC lacquer as has been mentioned is most common. You could try phenolic perhaps too. The cracking might be due to the acetone being wet and promoting the corrosion I mentioned.
THEONE Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 I mean, the composition with NC it is very brittle and it cracks easily. It doesn't hold very well. BTW how much % Smokeless powder you suggest into BP to make a dip ?
BetICouldMake1 Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 If your dip is that brittle you probably aren't using enough NC. You could (forgive the shameless self promotion) use one of these https://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/13288-e-match-dip-kits/ With the conductive kit you don't even need to mess with a bridge wire.
THEONE Posted June 22, 2019 Author Posted June 22, 2019 (edited) It is not only the final result but the accomplishment for me too to achieve my goal. I will try some more mixtures with BP and varius % NC to see what it will be better Edited June 22, 2019 by THEONE
BetICouldMake1 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 I hear that. Good luck with your experiments.
