stix Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 File Name: STIX PyroComps 2018 v2File Submitter: stixFile Submitted: 21 Dec 2018File Category: Miscellaneous As this year comes to a close, then I may as well post an update to the "recipe book" database. Remember, that this is a simple database "recipe book" that YOU create. You can use it for flapjacks, glue, pyrotechnic compositions or whatever you like. It's all up to you in how you use it. If you are using the previous version, then ask here and I'll explain how to export your previous saved data and import it to the new version. There are no significant changes. The changes are more about finding/searching previous made compositions and other things that make it easier. Please ASK here. Cheers. Click here to download this file
stix Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 Dammm - there seems to be something not working quite right. Let me know if you are having issues. 1
starxplor Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Why is this a collection of dll and exe and other files for windows only? Shouldnt a single PDF be enough?
stix Posted December 21, 2018 Author Posted December 21, 2018 I probably shouldn't have called it STIX PyroComps, because it sounds like it's a list of MY compositions. It's a database to input YOUR compositions. After extracting, launch the exe file: STIX PyroComps 2018 v2 Solution.exe
cevmarauder Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 I would think this would be useful to the community if there were some files to import--if someone wanted to sit there and type in tons of formulas. I assume then that one would be able to put in a list of their owned chemicals and it would produce recipes that could be made?
stix Posted January 3, 2019 Author Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) I didn't/don't want to post formulas. That's up to you to input. The main purpose of the Software is as a RESEARCH tool. That is, "more aimed at the experimenter to take notes and test various options". I used it to come up with a nice mix for castable nozzles. It's just another TOOL. However, regarding your concerns (cevmarauder), you CAN export and import data. How you do that is not so obvious. My bad, but please ask. [EDIT] BTW. This whole post would be best under "Tools and Tooling" but I can't see how to change it. Edited January 3, 2019 by stix
stix Posted January 4, 2019 Author Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) Also makes me realise that likely most people that have downloaded this software (and/or the previous version) expect to see a whole pile of compositions at their fingertips. NO NO NO NO NO, It's a "research tool" for people that enjoy experimentation. You can however export/import comps (and the Chems List) for others. Perhaps I could make a video tutorial of how to get the best out of it? Edited January 4, 2019 by stix
chuckufarley Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 I like your program with, or without, the formulas and chems preloaded into it. A video from you showing all the features, and tricks to using it efficiently would be helpful though. Not that it's hard to use, but I'm sure there's easier ways of doing things, that people might not know about. Just my $0.02 1

All I can say is that I can't take the time out to do a video showing usage of the software just for one person. If I get a couple of other requests, then I think it may be worthwhile. (kudos?) Like I said, probably most who have downloaded the software thought they were getting a database of stix's pre-made compositions (God help them ). but only to find disappointment, then discarded it. That's fine. As you may be aware, I'm not asking for monetary value, but have put it forward as a useful tool. Those who are willing to investigate may find it a very useful tool indeed. Apart from a major video production, I'm always here to answer questions. Edited January 6, 2019 by stix
