loganater Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Hey all, I'm currently researching Hybrid rocket motors and I'm looking to start doing some small experiments. I'm not planning on flying any of these motors, I just think that hybrid motors are pretty interesting and I would like to build one for a Physics project. Anyone have any tips for me? I know this is pretty vague but I'm just wondering if anyone out there with some experience with hybrids has any quick tips for me. Thanks!
NeighborJ Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 The term hybrid covers a lot of ground, can you clarify a bit more? Liquid fueled? Composite solid rocket fuel? Many of the various rockets used for pyrotechnics use multiple fuels or oxidizers. I don't find much talk of experimental liquid fueled motors here but there are a few topics which cross over between amature rocketry and pyro.
Baldor Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 As I understand, you are referring to liquid/gas oxidiser and solid fuel. Start here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hybrid+rocket+ Seems acrylic fuel + O2 works well for demos. You have a lot of combinations to try if you want.
loganater Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 Planning on using gaseous oxygen and poly ethylene tubing as fuel for now.
