Barium Chlorate Ba(ClO2)3 Al flash powder

I can buy Ba(ClO3)2,but buying KClO3,KClO4 in europe are problematic as private person.Making KClO3,KClO4 costly,complicated. I know its sensitive.And i know its more dangerous than KClO3. I try reducte the sensitivity, so be it heat the grinded Ba(ClO3)2 before use.Im looking a KClO3 and KClO4 Al alternative. Which have the same extreme sound and power.

 

My question: Ba(ClO3)2 Al flash powder have the KClO3 Al power and extreme sound?The flash was green or white?

 

I know whith sulfur are more sensitive but its more powerful.If i make a Ba(ClO3)2 Al S mixture its white or grean?

 

I can not find too much from Ba(ClO3)2 Al flash powder. I know it is not widely used!

I say go for it!

But what you propose is very dangerous.

 

Chlorate and Sulfur fun but don't store it because it can self ignite. Do not make more than a gram or 2 at a time. It will be friction sensative and impact sensative. Hit a quarter gram with a hammer to get a feel for its reactivity. Wear goggles and ear protection.

 

Yes you'll make green flash.

 

Rather use the perchlorate if you can get it, thats far safer with sulfur.

 

Safety first, don't store it, but go for it

 

Consider using red iron oxide rather than sulfur to reduce the ignition temperature. try between 2 and 5% by weight

I will not say go for it. BaClO3 can be used to make strike anywhere matches it is far more sensitive than KClO3 or KClO4 and not an ideal oxidizer for this use. I make plenty of flash but have not ever wanted to make flash with BaClO3. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Will the BaClO3/Al mixture be bright and pale green?

 

In this 2 video i see its powerful.But its mixed with strontium-nitrate.So i not see the color.Barium-nitrate flash powder with aluminium sulfur 55/30/15, or magnesium 50/50 are white and bright.A white or pale green flash was ideal for me.But i does not find a video or an accurate description from the Ba(ClO3)2/Al mixture.My guess this mixture are very bright and pale green.I know its more sensitive and nearly 3X more soluble in water than KClO3.

Often times oxidizers are blended together to reduce sensitivity. I suspect this is the case for your strontium barium mix and has little to do with color.

This is irrelevant anyway I couldn't be payed enough money to mess with a BaClO3 flash powder, I encourage you to reconsider any involvement with it.

I'm locking this. I suggest you find different interest in pyrotechnics. If your only interest is in flash, this is not the forum for you.
