Star comps

I was just wondering if you use dextrin to bind your stars and you wet the comp but don't use it all will the rest of the comp be ruined or can you store it air tight and just wet it again and press as usual

Depends on the formula, and the time period. I wouldn't do it with glitters or anything containing metals and something basic. It'd probably be okay with organic color compositions and charcoal or Ti streamers. I'm not entirely sure about metallic star compositions.

 

In most cases I'd suggest letting it dry out and just rewet it. Dextrin will reactivate without too much trouble. SGRS is more stubborn.

Thanks for the advice I have been making small batches of charcoal based stars to press just in case I don't have time to finish them going to try my first batch of cut stars tomorrow
