wizard7611 Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Does anyone know of a great place to order custom paper tubes online without a minimum order requirement? Thanks!
Aspirina Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 (edited) Depend, where you from? if the tube is not to big the cheapest option is make it yourself. Edited May 2, 2018 by Aspirina
wizard7611 Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 Depend, where you from? if the tube is not to big the cheapest option is make it yourself. I'm from Nebraska. I also need nearly 800 in total of various sizes and lengths. Not something I can pull off before the 4th.
Arthur Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 800 is a small order for the owner of a tube winding machine that has to be adjusted for each size.
Edd Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Is everyone real oblivious to the fact that he's clearly trying to make bulk salutes, probably for sale? Might as well put up a banner and tie some balloons to it.
NeighborJ Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Wizard has been around for a bit and his posts have not indicated anything such as the illegal sale or manufacture of crackers. Rockets, mines, fountains, cakes, wheel drivers, inserts.... cardboard tubes are not just for M80s and it's not an unusual request around here.

Arthur Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 One or two places offer "Long" tubes, as made before cutting to length. This lets you chose the length. Getting someone to make custom diameters for small quantities is probably impossible, -no-one is going to make special machine tools for a one off that is "cheap". Long tubes tend to come by truck so maybe not cheaply.

NeighborJ Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 https://ihaveadotcom.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=72_118 Have you looked here? Phil's has good prices and they are uncut tubes.
Phildo Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 Getting a company to run a small batch is not impossible but it is VERY expensive, I get many requests for custom sizes and once I explain what the manufacturer charges for setting up a run, I seldom hear back. Unless you're willing to commit to several hundred feet of a particular tube, the cost is insane.
Arthur Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 Custom diameters is a big complicated and hence expensive job for a tube maker, easily amortised over a run of thousands but not viable otherwise. Getting custom lengths is often somewhat easier as most tubes are made in long lengths then cut, so if you can buy long tubes and cut to length yourself you MAY come close to your needs.
Col Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 I dont find custom diameters a problem as long as i can locate, make or adapt a 3ft mandrel of/to the correct size.
Arthur Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 But if it's a non stock size and you need ten tubes then it's also a non stock price! which for most people constitutes a problem.
