cevmarauder Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 File Name: Arbor Press Torque CalculatorFile Submitter: cevmarauderFile Submitted: 13 Apr 2018File Category: Miscellaneous A simple spreadsheet to calculate how many foot-pounds of torque to apply to your arbor press to generate the desired PSI for a given rammer diameter. All you need to do is plug the diameter (not radius!) of your press's pinion gear into the box on the bottom left of the spreadsheet, in inches, and the number of teeth on the gear. For example, mine is 7/8" in diameter, with 12 teeth, so I plugged in .875 and 12. You can also plug the fractional inches in. This will calculate the torque required for rammers between 1/8 and 2" (in 1/8" increments), from 500psi to 10000psi, in 500psi increments (with an extra column for 8800psi, the ideal pressure for Whistle Mix.) Special thanks to Lloyd S. for pointing out that a gear's outside diameter is not the same as its working (relative) diameter. That'll save us a few foot pounds of effort! I put both .xlsx and .odf (Open Document Format) versions in the .zip--if you don't have Microsoft Excel, you can pull down OpenOffice for free at http://www.openoffice.org Click here to download this file
