shadowpatterns Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Very new here, and loving all the great information I am finding. My question is, does strontium carbonate have uses as a fountain colorant? I've looked for information, and so far most of the uses for strontium carbonate are for other pyrothechnic applications. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!Craig
Mumbles Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 It's probably doable, though you may have to experiment a bit on your own. I'd start with checking out some of John Glasswick's colored fountain formulas here: http://www.skylighter.com/fireworks/how-to-make/colored-firework-fountains.asp They're basically star compositions with titanium added. The same theory should work if you started with a red star composition based on strontium carbonate. Buell Red comes to mind as something that might work. Adding Ti for may provide a more pronounced effect. There are also a few published colored fire compositions based on SrCO3 that can be found here: https://www.cannonfuse.com/store/pc/Pyrotechnic-Formulas-Colored-Fire-Compositions-Flares-Torches-d22.htm 1
