Svimmer Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Made som sparklers but they did not turn out 100% any tips on what may be wrong ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f6vPKaesHE&t=1s
OldMarine Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Try upping the charcoal a percent or two. I gave up on them once I read Shimizu couldn't make them reliably either. 1
Mumbles Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Another member recently had some pretty good success with senko hanabi. You might want to check out his thread, and see if you can glean any hints or tips. If you shared your process and formula and all that it'd be easier to help. http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/12597-senko-hanabi/ 1
OldMarine Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Our own Nighthawkinlight has posted a new video on these sparklers. Actually saw it in a Popular Mechanics article: 4
Svimmer Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 (edited) Been trying many different ratios now. But it dosent change mutch. Im sure its the paper. Im using Silk paper/tissue paper Edited September 17, 2017 by Sondre 1
Svimmer Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 I think i did read that you could dip the sparkler is Potassium nitrate soulution and dry it but i dont know if its going to make a diffrence.
Svimmer Posted October 16, 2017 Author Posted October 16, 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cT1NbcRc1A Getting better but think i need to add more sulfur since the mix burns very fast

Svimmer Posted January 3, 2018 Author Posted January 3, 2018 Just tested this formula 6g kno3, 2g sulfur, 0.5g charcoal. It burns like a senko hanabi sparkler but when the drop forms it stops. Any suggestion what i can try ?
Svimmer Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 After many tests ive found that this formula 6g Kno3 1.6g charcoal 2.6g sulfur Is a really good starting point. and after testing that formula alot of times i added more sulfur about 0.5g-0.8g more then i test the composition and add a little more charcoal each test until i get the result i want. And this composition burn alot faster then many other senko hanabi compositions so first i tried to twist it really tight but that wasnt that great. So then i rolled it really tight between my thumb and point finger. that resultet in slow and steady burn. After all this i got pretty nice sparks probably the best senko hanabi sparklers i have made. I tried to do a video but the camera on my phone dosent pick up the sparks very well. i can do some more work on the formula to get the right amount of each chemicals but as i understand on these sparklers it has alot to do with the charcoal you have too and the other chems. So the only thing i can change now is the paper i guess and the paper does play a big role on these sparklers
