RiderX Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 in my spare time to make extra money i dj so i have all sorts of cool lighting and effect equipment ive often thought of adding some of my lasers to like my backyard shows that ive done with comercial fireworks watch in 1080/720 hd i was thinking vertically infront of all the cakes/mortars etc so the smoke passes over the lasers , issue with that is these are high powered and could hit planes in the sky not sure how aiming them up over the audiences head would work though it would depend on how much smoke traveled that way all the lasres are programable so u can do ur own designs patters , write words , animations etc what do u guys think about it
RiderX Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 (edited) heres a vid form my other youtube chan , this ones a better quality they could also bepointed at trees infron of the display between the site and audience or if not any there but trees behind the shooting site that ppl can see Edited July 24, 2017 by RiderX
Arthur Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 (edited) Lighting effects certainly are used! Sometimes to fill out time with no pyro! For a home show with power from the house then it's simple. For a pro show in a park or arena there is a lot of work to get enough power into the field and get all the lights programmed. Beware all the laser safety regulations for eye damage etc, and do consider the FAA. In the UK the Civil Aviation Authority are very fussy about lasers after some cockpit hits. They really do need to give their permission before lasers or sky trackers are used. I can't see that your FAA will be much different from out CAA Effects like light beams are totally dependent on the smoke, in windy conditions the smoke blows away! Edited July 24, 2017 by Arthur

Nessalco Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Just my personal opinion here. I've seen a couple of commercially produced shows that included simple laser effects like beams and wheels, and more complex holographic effects. Can't say I liked it much at all. A little too programmed and sterile for my taste. YMMV KO

nater Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 We do a multimedia show at a few smaller venues with laser, video, and close prox product all choreographed to music. I prefer all pyro myself, but the crowd always seems to enjoy it. I worked at a large amusement park for a few years that had a similar nightly show. I think the work to produce such a show would be worth it for a permanent installation that runs all season long. For a one-off show it is expensive unless you recycle segments for different clients.
