Arthur Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 I'm planning to visit the Grand Canyon. What's the best part of it to look at? I will not have time to do all of it!
robbo Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 The south rim has a great east/west road (usually approached from the south... most come up from I40) with well maintained viewpoints. North rim has trails but you've got to hike in, not designed for the autotouristas. As long as you're in the neighborhood: Last year I took my almost adult son along the south rim and he was awestruck. So then I took him north to Panguich, Utah, and the next day we drove Highway 12 going east out of Panguich. The Canyon had wowed him but Highway 12 had his brain dripping out of his ears. He wondered why anyone would put an impossible road in such an impossible place...
rogeryermaw Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 (edited) Enjoy your time in the states, Arthur. There's more to see and do than you can in a lifetime. Shame you wont be closer...Be great to meet for coffee and light some fuses! Well hope all goes well and you are safe in your travels. You planning to be in town for the 4th of July? You know we tear it up this time of year ! Edited June 30, 2017 by rogeryermaw
Arthur Posted June 30, 2017 Author Posted June 30, 2017 I'm invited to a ball in the Bay Area SF in September, I'm not going to sit for 10 hours in a plane for only one event!
rogeryermaw Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 i feel ya brother! i had a 6 hour layover in oakland ca...that is not a fun place to spend a night. ya if you can get out to do some exploring, it'll do you some good. just remember what a pain in the ass it is to get through security here in the states and give yourself plenty of time to be accosted by the security...*ahem* people. hope you have a good time!
