Sean44 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Hello my name is Sean. I have been wanting to make my own shells for some time now and finally made my first batch of bp. I've been lurking this fourm for about a year or so doing my research so I shouldn't have to many questions haha. Got my bp chems from skylighter and a ballmill from harbor fraight. The media for my mill are .44 bullets I cast out of soft lead (have some hardened on the way). 1/2pound milled for 5 hours and coated on grass seed that I plan to use for lift and burst.I know the skylighter coal isn't the best but I think my lift turned out great! Did some baseball testing this morning.First was 18grams....couldnt find baseball.....16grams got me to 5.23s fall time...little more testing and I think I got it.... The video is 8 grams in a little paper cup. Let me know what you guys think! received_1715525035128442.mp4
lloyd Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Sean, welcome to the group. DON'T hesitate to ask questions! Things you might wonder about are the stock-in-trade of others here. Better you should "appear ignorant" on a subject, than to go-off with insufficient information! Lloyd 1
MadMat Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Your BP looked pretty good. Just one suggestion; dont light it so close to your back door. 1
Ubehage Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 I agree with MadMat on both subjects.BP looks very good, and excellent burn-speed. I also started off lighting small quantities close to my shed and other stuff, thinking "These small quantities won't hurt".First of all, YES THEY CAN! Even the tiniest spark that gets somewhere unplanned, can have extreme consequences. And also, some day your BP (or whatever you're burning that day) might behave very different than expected. Take it from someone who learned these things the hard way.
