dynomike1 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) Can someone tell me how many layers do i need to put on a 8 and 10" paper shell? I thought i had all that info but i cant find it. I forgot, my tape is 0.0006. I thought i had a chart but i cant find it. Also i cant seem to find the info anywhere. Edited December 5, 2016 by dynomike1
braddsn Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I paste 16 layers on an 8. I always just double the diameter and that's how many layers I use. I use plain gummed paper tape.
dynomike1 Posted December 5, 2016 Author Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) Thanks Brad I finally found a formula on the dark side.0.14 X shell dia. divided by paper thickness = Layers. I came up with 19 on 8". Edited December 5, 2016 by dynomike1
CrossOut Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 I've been using shell diameter times 2 for all my shells with great success. Larger shells can take a few extra layers and still fit. But I find that 1-3 extra layers doesn't make a difference at that size. I also use gummed tape. Honestly it's going to come down to what paper and hemis you are using and their starting diameter. This far I've only used Chinese hemis. And they do differ for smaller shells.. some 4" shells can only take 6 layers where as some took up to 10... The biggest difference you will see in your shell breaks is the burst your are using not so much the pasting.
