Redrocketman Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I am building a rocket to be powered by r candy motors. Motors I have spot on, ( large 300mm X 40mm nozzle-less core burners ) but am stumped on a delay & ejection charge design. Have thought of adding baking soda to make a delay, how to when I'm casting my motors using recrystallisation method has me buggered... I guess it has to be the PVC motor "E" class option?? ( at least then I could cast a proper nozzle )
stix Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Regardless of fuel type used or whether the delay is chemical or electronic timer based, you will need to know approximately when the rocket will reach apogee, which is the best time for the deployment of the parachute.
Redrocketman Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Yes as we talked about, will download proper software, & use electronic timer - after figuring out approximate apogee, in relation to the applied motor thrust and duration. Will keep all posted!!
