schroedinger Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) Hi I just got the link to this video, which i find really amazing. This is the hot coil method being used, in the first seconds you can see how it gets inserred and where they have the fire pit to heat them.In the end you can see theat it takes a lot longer to fire then in the beginning. Also you can see the lift package very clear when he sits down to pass out the shells:https://youtu.be/i9T19al_APY Edited May 8, 2016 by schroedinger
wyzard10 Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Wow, at first i thought this took a special kind of crazy to do. But the lift charges appeared to be very minimal with not a whole lot of lift and the payload appeared to be smoke.
schroedinger Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 Always happy to that other also like it. Personally i wouldn't like to fire a show like that ( specially at night). I also like this:https://youtu.be/h-wmytl9V5k. They are quite confident with that method, the rack doesn't seem very stable (in another movie on thwt channel it really shakes) also shown the last shot, which is using the method where a small star gets dropped into the mortar to ignite the lift charge.
pyroman2498 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 we were actually talking about this one day at one of our club shoots. it was with john werner and a couple others, we were on the topic of sulfur and chlorates , how we have a bunch of old stars and stuff from rosi ( correct my spelling ) and that the Japanese would use chlorate based stars , strike them on the side of the mortars and drop them into to ignite the shells. to see this on video is pretty cool.
