dynomike1 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Here is an interesting thread on Amide Powder. I didn't have time to read it , just skimmed through it. If anyone is interested.http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/blackpowder-mortar-and-cannon-sponsored-by-seacoast-artillery/powder-301512/ Edited February 20, 2016 by dynomike1
Fulmen Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Amide powder and similar compositions based on ammonium nitrate (like ammonpulver) are well known and have some quite interesting properties. Sadly their hygroscopic nature makes them impractical for many applications. Ammonium nitrate also undergoes phase transitions near room temperature which can cause grains to crack or crumble with repeated temperature cycling in this range. This can however be solved by using a fused mixture of KNO3 and NH4NO3. For amide powder the fused mixture should be stable between -10 and 90°C.
