TheGandalf Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hello Out there. What kind of kraft paper do you use to make cylinder cases with? 40g? 70g .. // Gandalf
mikeee Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Virgin, if you can find it. You want a good quality paper that has strong fibers that won't won't fall apart when wet.You also want several weights of paper, Fulcanelli articles are a good resource for the weights needed for differentsizes shells. You can substitute other weights but you will need to add several layers when going to a lighter weightpaper.
Fulmen Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 For tubes I prefer 100g virgin kraft, the heavier paper means less rolling. For pasting I use 60g kraft.
memo Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I use 30# and 70# virgin craft... be sure that it is virgin craft it makes a big difference. memo
schroedinger Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 For cylinders 70 g/m^2 is ~50lb. 100 g is ~67 lb. The 70 g works very good with wet rolled casings and dry ones. But you sometimes need a turn more then recommenden by fulcanelly. 1
Arthur Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 The Maltese reuse cement bags! It's a matter of price, availability and shell design
Mia Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Normally animal feed bags Arthur there donated by the farmers to the cause.
memo Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 are the feed bags made from craft ? cement bags ? memo
mikeee Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Most large kraft paper bags are made of stronger heavier grades of paper to stand up to the weight of the content of the bags. You can use a micrometer to measure the thickness of the paperand give it a value based on your own test results. You will need to adjust the number of layers basedon each type of bag used and the thickness and strength it provides.
Col Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 heavy sacks are usually made with extensible kraft, which has a higher percentage of stretch.
