Problem with python-script (shellmap)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Four petals doesnt seem enough for a 4" shell. The paper will have to do a lot of stretching, i use 6 petals for 3".

edit: just saw it was 100mm "radius" so 4 will be ok :) The cookie cutter may need 13 tonnes on it if the die cutter i use is anything to go by.

The outer ring should be curved rather than straight and the petals are too deep. Should look more like this

Well, I just translated that .jar code posted. Let me see what I can do with that python code, my python knowledge is shit though.

looks a lot better but the petals are still a bit deep.

If you increase overlap, it looks very similar to what you posted. I won't claim I fully understand how pattern is generated, all I did was adopted already existing code.

Might be worth printing off a few to compare, that should give you the ballpark overlap value to use.

Here`s an 86mm (4") with 4 petals

http://pyrodata.com/hemis.php

Now also includes web version of the code from first post.

It looks pretty ok to me. I'm going to make a bunch of templates, and save for the future. Not quite as good as having a stored "app" that does it for you with different sizes, but close enough.

Thank you for the effort.
