Ghost shell stars

I am having trouble sizing stars for a ghost shell.

 

Do I size the stars by the largest diameter?

 

How far out of round is acceptable and how does that impact the timing?

I would say, something falling trough lets say 4,1 mm and retaining on 4 mm (dry stars). (just a shot in the dark )

that would be my start investigation if I had the time, recources and licence's

 

The larger the batch, the more uniform they grow.
