Niladmirari Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 What do you think fireworks dying in future? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2A_rKrtUrg No smoke. You can do any effects.
schroedinger Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Those lightshows are quite amazing, but like the name allready says, a light show. There is just no boom inside a drone show, so you can be sure they won't replace fireworks at all. Also organizing many drones is way harder then displaying an effect a couple times as big with a single shell. Also there are just no streamers in a drone, which is one of the most used effects. But they will propably find use in areas where fireworks just can't be used, like in city centers or during bushfire seasons. Maybe also at events where light and fireworks shows get combined, something becomming more popular in the last time.
lloyd Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 They also 'lied' about some of the line-drawing effects in the 8X-speed demos. The lighted stripes do NOT remain in the air unless the drones are also emitting colored smoke, and there is a white light illumination coming from the ground. So part of that is just hype and misrepresentation. I've worked with laser companies/departments on the theme park shows we've helped plan, and supplied. The laser effects are "auxiliary" or "complementing", but not replacements for pyrotechnics. I'd presume the same about a drone-based "light show", except that they cannot scan a field of vision fast enough to create line-drawings, as can lasers. LLoyd
MrB Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Is lightshows neat? Yes. Is it new? No. Is this adaptation new? Yes, to some extent. It has been limited to indoor settings with hard-mounted lights. (Where you can get a much higher resolution then with these drones.)Will this replace fireworks?http://orig02.deviantart.net/5012/f/2011/078/b/e/rofl__by_angel91701-d3c0qpy.jpg Yes... Yes i'm sure it will.B!
taiwanluthiers Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Everywhere that fireworks are banned, illegal firework still flourish because the fact is, people like the explosion and the concussion more than the light. There's just something about the boom that people like, and no speakers or light show can replicate that.
mikeee Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 500 to 1000 drones at one time might be a little more interesting and comparable to a larger shell burst. 1
MrB Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 500 to 1000 drones at one time might be a little more interesting and comparable to a larger shell burst.Give it a few years, and the number will be limited by the amount of cash you can afford to throw at it. Hive AI's will deal with the specifics of controlling them, so the only thing you do is decide the resolution. It's interesting technology, for sure, but i don't see it replacing fireworks, ever.Just like self driving cars wont replace regular ones. Somethings are about more then what they appear to be. Fireworks is more then just light and sound, cars are more then just transportation.B!
