Sparx88 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 If yall have'nt already, get to your favorite ---- 3D --- theatre and see this. Trust me, you do not want to wait until it's out for rental or pay per view. Just watched it yesterday at our favorite IMAX theatre in nice cushy recliners and it's a treat.
stix Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Cheers Sparx, I intend to take my 2 kids to see this sometime in the next week. Never particularly been a big fan of Star Wars but I do want to see this one. 3D will be the best way to fly imo.
nater Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I saw it yesterday too, in 3D but not IMAX. We also have a nice theater with recliners, but does not have an IMAX screen. The IMAX screen in town has chappy popcorn and packs people in like sardines. Episode VII was great, I really appreciate Abram's use of models and puppets over relying on CGI for every effect. A few scenes really stood out to me. I really enjoyed the desolate feeling of Jakku with the scraps of the Empire littering the dunes. You really got a sense of how large a Star Destroyer was when Rey was scavenging in it when we met her.
pirotek Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I was in 3D before last Saturday, but not in IMAXthe film has a good bit in the spirit of the 80s, and this is good
Sparx88 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Yes, using real hands on effects, models, and set items is a dying art from all the cg hype. I like it, it has it's place and can do things we could never do with our hands but it's used so much now it's hard to tell when to be impressed anymore, kinda. Here, a couple well known pics of the early days of stars wars. A little flash back and maybe a little into the spirit of it all
