Maxim Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Here you can ask anything about Russia, and I will answer it:) Please don't start holywars and stuff, 1
dynomike1 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 You got any 91/30's or M-44's left? I got 8 but i need some more.
taiwanluthiers Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I don't think Russia has gun laws anywhere near as liberal as the US. I'm pretty sure it is not common for civilians to own guns there.
Maxim Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 You can own a gun here, an assault rifle as well. But they won't sell you the magazines for more than 10 shots, just for safety. You must be older then 18 to own a gun, and you must own a hunting smooth barrel shotgun for 5 years at least. But you can't own any pistols, like Glocks. You can own a non-lethal pistol which fires with resin+steel dust bullets. They still hurt badly and can be lethal if you are shot in the head. You can get a real pistol as a reward for a good work in police or army.
marks265 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Hey Max, From my side of the fence I see many people from Russia coming to the USA. Mainly truck drivers. My wife works in shipping and she sees it too. I have a Russian lady that works by me and I have to listen real close when she speaks because of her accent. She actually works 2 jobs because I've seen her working at a local grocery store after work too. So I don't talk to her too much especially when mixed with noise from the factory where we work. Anyway my question is "What is the general consensus of Vladimir Putin, is he generally well received, or a hero or not so good?" yep just curious :-) Mark
Maxim Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Okay. In Russia there are many different views on Putin. For some he is a hero, a symbol of the country. For others he is just a good president, many people feel neutral about him, but they don't see a better person to be president, so they stick with Putin. And some more think badly about him, and they have a reason. Corruption ( but it's a lot smaller then before Putin ), taxes ( yep, receipts are quiet high in Moscow, but they are VERY small in villages and smaller in smaller cities ). Not so long ago our parlament passed a new law, saying that all truck, which weight more than 12 t, must pay 1,5 rubles per kilometer of the federal roads, The money is sappoused to go to the repaires of the roads. Others don't like his politics. On the other hand - Putin turned Russia from ruined and bandit country into a lot better country, he ended the Chechnya wars, stopped the terrorism. Under his rule russian people started to live better. In those 2 years our country have political conflicts with other countries, like Turkey, USA, Ukraine. What makes me really sad, is that it's a "War of the News". Thousands of tons of fake news, fake interpretations - from all the sides. I remember a story about the tower of Babylon, People talked the same laungage, but God separated them - by making them speak different laungages. The same story here, Almost everyone has Internet now in EU, USA, Russia. Only thing that is stoping us from seing both the sides of the coin is the laungage.......is only all USA people knew Russian, and all Russian knew english. In that case a phenomenon of a "War of the News" won't exist..... I really wish you not to believe the media..In makes you think with steryotypes. My position is: Putin is OK, he is not a hero, just a NORMAL dude. I don't see a better candidate for being a president, 1
marks265 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I like the guy myself. The media does have a way of sensationalizing things and twisting the real event. I've read that Putin likes to "get rid" of people from time to time. It's great to hear that the people are living better with Putin in the driver's seat too!
mikeee Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I like how Putin went into Syria and actually started taking out the ISIS terrorists andthen the USA had to hurry up and pretend they were going after those evil terrorists. The reality of the situation is the USA let ISIS grow to the threat they are today anddid nothing to stop them over the past 6 years. The USA helped train "rebels" in Syriato supposedly make changes to the political powers in Syria, and half of these "rebels"are now working/fighting for ISIS. Too many corporations are making too much money byfunding and arming terrorist groups/rebel groups/political groups/mercenary groups/foreign armiesand anyone else with a dollar in their pocket. These same corporations have too much controlover the worlds political and monetary systems. Communism was supposed to be a threat to thewestern countries and their social beliefs. Now that Communism can no longer be used to scarethe western populations they magically come up with the "War On Terrorism". Most of the G20 countriessell billions of dollars of weapons to the middle east each year, and we just can't figure out wherethe terrorists are getting all of their weapons. Too many political games have been played in the middle eastfor far too long and all of this is in Russia's "back yard". Putin has a lot more national security issues toworry about in the middle east then the majority of the western countries. Hopefully Putin can stabilize the situation in Syria and put an end to this political game being played out at the expense of innocent people in Syria.
Maxim Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Infact, there is a second logical reason, why we started bombing ISIS, not only for the national security, but also to stop ISIS from selling petrolium to Turkey, that can evovle in higher price for the petrolium and the higher the price is, the better russian economy is.
gregh Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Syria is nothing but a dog and pony show for the US and Russia. We are training "rebels" to try and over-throw Assad and then half of them join Isis. Russia is trying to maintain Assad's regime so they are actually bombing and fighting the rebels we are training. The only Isis fighting Russia is doing is when Isis encroaches upon the current establishment there. We are only there because it financially benefits somebody that makes these decisions. We set the standard in government corruption!
Eric70 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Maxim, Here is a controversial question that will piss everyone off... What is the weather in Russia like right now? SE Minnesota has very little snow on the ground. We should have a few inches of snow by now. It rained quite a bit last week. Eric
Maxim Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 In Moscow it's also like that. It snowed for 3 days, now the temp is higher than 0 and the snow is melting, But in Sybiria it's lower than-20C
dynomike1 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I am kinda worried that we are going to have a warm winter and a icy spring. Next week we are looking at 70-80's. Deere around here are still moving at night because they're not grazing much due to the warm weather, Eric is holding all the Ducks up there so no Duck hunting down here.
mikeee Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Infact, there is a second logical reason, why we started bombing ISIS, not only for the national security, but also to stop ISIS from selling petrolium to Turkey, that can evovle in higher price for the petrolium and the higher the price is, the better russian economy is. Turkey has been harboring ISIS terrorists and purchasing most of the oil from them for a number of years which has been funding their terrorist killing spree. Turkey is a NATO and G20 member and no-one says anything to Turkey about this? If we really want to fight the "war on terrorism" maybe we should be carpet bombing Turkey and S.A. these countries have been backing and financing terrorists for decades. This political crap gets old after a while, the real terrorists are the military industrial complex that continues to grow every year and needs to sell more product every year, they won't be happy until world war three begins. Majority of the people in this world just want to live their lives and get along with their neighbors. Edited December 19, 2015 by mikeee
dynomike1 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) How did my ol Buddy Fred Thompson put it? Politicians have to have something to fight for otherwise they wouldn't get elected. (example) With your support electing me, we will stop Isis, we will also create jobs, but we will not cut back on Welfare. Our election is crooked anyway, when electoral votes over power popular votes. What good is it? That ought to get something started. Edited December 19, 2015 by dynomike1
gregh Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 You are exactly right Mikeee. Most everybody on this planet just wants to be able to live their life and be happy. It's only the few that muck it up for all of us. We are all the same everywhere. However, it sounds like our Russian brothers might need heavier coats than us over here...
marks265 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I finally started to get some ice on our lake. The ski hills are making a little snow and die hard golfers would be able to able if the courses were open-----no snow. It doesn't hardly seam like Christmas with no snow. But with a couple of good pours of vodka into a Bloody Mary or two or three, its time to start Christmas shopping.
r44astro Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Привет Maxim!Spent 3 weeks in Petersburg in 2011 during December. Loved it! Russia is a great place and cheap to live in winter..Speak a little Russian, just enough to annoy you!Bill
Maxim Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Lol:) I remember that in 2011 or 2010 winter we had an ice rain. In the middle of the winter the rain dropped and then froze! All trees were curved from the weight of the ice on them! It was fricken beutiful! I went out of the house and slipped 6 times in 10 min! Ahahahah, that was amazing, And the summer of 2010 was super hot, 38 C in the shade! Moscow turned into a desert! All plants turned yellow and stuff!!! Ohhhh.....Nostalgia!
taiwanluthiers Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 In Soviet Russia, trucks drive YOU!!! (Maybe that's why they come to America to drive trucks) I always thought USA has the most lax gun laws in the whole civilized world (not counting war torn countries like Pakistan or Afghanistan), and most other "civilized" countries ban gun because it's more "civilized" when only the police/military can have them. I do wonder why they don't do more about this ISIS thing, and it seems every time Obama said ISIS is contained or safe or whatever an attack happens. Makes me wonder how competent he is to lead.
dynomike1 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) You know a muslim is going to take care of a muslim Tai. Dam i just killed a Mosquito. Some of us have lived the best days of this country and it doesn't seem to be getting better. We are losing some of our rights every day. We had a hot summer and a hard spring this year, i hope it's not like that next year. I remember a couple of those ice storms, one of them i worked for the power company. I went to work at 7:00am on Friday and got off at 6:00pm on Sunday. i don't ever want to see a pine tree around here again. Edited December 19, 2015 by dynomike1
mikeee Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 The one nice thing about fireworks, people from all over the world enjoy building them and displaying the art forother people to enjoy. When we see these aspects of our lives that are the same we soon start to recognize that wehave more in common then most people want to admit. 1
BlueComet24 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 What's the food like in Russia? I know about some of the traditional (and tasty!) foods such as pelmenis, pierogies, borscht (in fact, I made some pelmenis and pierogies a few days ago, which is what made me think of this). However, I don't really know what people eat on a daily basis. What kind of food do you and others usually eat for each meal?
taiwanluthiers Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 In Soviet Russia, food eats YOU!!! I like borscht, no idea how to make them though. I heard they just eat lots of meat and potatoes.
