Sparx88 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I'll just post anything video or image of my rocket adventures here.
gregh Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Weeeeeeeelllllllllllllll..... Where are they?
Sparx88 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 First up are the 2 stage rockets Ive been working on. Test runs using the slip fit plastic packing tape way suggested to me. The 5/16 need a longer fuel grain, too short of thrust I think. The 3/8 2oz. feels about right. Now to test a bit more and get some headers on them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNxGx-1SdFo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPep900QWPs 1
mikeee Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 (edited) Sparx88, Nice to see examples of home manufactured tooling for rockets, too many people spend thousands of dollarson tooling when they could easily fabricate tools at home for various sizes and types of rockets. The smaller motorsare a lot of fun, quick and easy to make a quantity of motors, and you don't consume a lot of materials for each one.The smaller sized motors allow a person to make their own motor tubes when needed using a wood mandrel and rolling your own tubes any length and thickness needed. Agree with mikeee, it's nice to see some home made tooling - nothing too fancy, but gets the job done. Although blurred, I liked the "flight style" of the second video. What was the configuration for both, ie. 1st stage nozzleless, 2nd stage nozzled, etc.? btw. I couldn't help but notice in the first video the jet-stream in the background. Were you in the vicinity of the turkish/syrian border in the last few days? Perhaps you inadvertently caused a major international incident Oh well, the risks we take for pyro. 1
Col Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I liked the second one best too, the first one was good tho. I think adding more stages could trump adding a header
Sparx88 Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Yah that 5/16 sorta looked like a sam attack lol. Thank you all for the thumbs up. Here's some more single stage rockets testing 2 report comps, my Bright White #1, and a sodium nitrate comp. Going for a yellow colored report. The fuel is mesquite bp 77/15/10 for all the rockets except a couple. Pine and paulownia used but not often. 2 g.sodium 5/16" motorhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Triuxw9i943 g. sodium 5/16" motorhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aPDB-PBOkY3 g. bright white #1 1/4" motorhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYtAJbp6Wsc
Sparx88 Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 7/16 motor long burn test with a couple flashers. mesquite BP for fuel.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7k78VaE2-A

Perhaps you inadvertently caused a major international incident Oh well, the risks we take for pyro. Both stages were nozzled. They were the same except the 1st stage had no delay. Used a single peice of black match in the 2nd stages nozzle/core to have it lite asap. The next ones I film will have a longer fuel grain for both stages. I want to go higher I'm going to try making a 3 stage this weekend hopefully.
