niskahiki Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I have powder for concrete making in winter. There are 65-75 % Na No3, i dont know what else, i try to find out that. I wonder is this Also suitable way to clean my powder? Sorry to ask, but my english is not so fluent..
Differential Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) Try dissolving it in hot water. NaNO3 is very soluble, but I suspect there are some calcium compounds and sand in your concrete mix that would be insoluble. Then decant off the solution, boil off the water, and let it evaporate to dryness in a warm oven or desiccator. Sodium nitrate will suck water out of the air like crazy, which is why Potassium nitrate is more popular. You may want to try making a small batch of 70% concrete mix and 30% powdered sugar (by weight) and lighting it, just to make sure you have some nitrate in your mix before you go to all that trouble.
