wizard7611 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Does anyone know of a great formula to use(metal based formula) for golden comets? I'm wanting something that produces the star look of a nishiki kamuro, but golden and bright. -Thanks!
Xtreme Pyro Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Any charcoal comp with the addition of 10% metal would give you the effect you're looking for. C8 + 10% TI comes to mind, either sponge or spherical would work. 1

sora Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 This is C8 I guess:http://pyrodata.com/compositions/Chrysanthemum-8 1
wizard7611 Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 This is C8 I guess: http://pyrodata.com/compositions/Chrysanthemum-8Oh, no shit. C = Chrysanthemum. Wow, I totally overthought that.
wildcherryxoxo Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 http://lmgtfy.com/?q=C8+pyro Do yourself a favor and please, put a little bit more effort into you're research

DaMounty Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 For my C8's I used pine charcoal and dextrin as the binder. Also I have made TT's with 10% MgAl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgdaVCDO7Ug DaM 1
wildcherryxoxo Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Excuse me? I apologize for saying such a thing, but why don't you try giving more people respect when they ask a question, not criticize them for it. I said please, which shows more respect than you deserve. How about you show a little respect to this community and stop asking to be spoon fed What binder or type of charcoal do I use? The charcoal and binder are both specified beyond the link I provided, as well as in Fireworks: The Art Science and Technique. RTFM

RTFMWtf? I'm not asking to be spoon-fed. I wanted to ask a simple question to see what formula for a golden comet people like to use. If you want to continue this argument, I'd be glad to, because you obviously need to be taught a lesson. I wasn't even trying to be rude in the first place.

PIL Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Nishiki Kamuro effect is pretty hard to produce without titanium or ferro-titanium.Charcoal star comps with 15% fine atomised aluminium added will leave a decent tail .I often use ball milled modified TT +15% AluminiumPotassium nitrate 44charcoal 42 sulfur 6dextrin 8Atomised aluminium 30micron 15.You can adjust the aluminium amount to meet the tail brightness you want. Carbon796 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Wizard7611 you'll probably be happier if you just ignore Wildcherryxoxo's BS, like I imagine most members do. 2
dusty56 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I agree he can be a bit abrasive but he does have a point. You don't have to read FAST, just go to skylighter and read. Or other strings here. And C6, C8, Willow and Tiger Tail do not usually need prime as they are black powder stars. 1
gregh Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I always give them at least a thin coat of BP prime, even the C6. You can never be too careful, especially if you are breaking hard. It would rather do a little extra and have 100 percent ignition, than take my chances. You are spending all this time making the stars, burst, lift, and then putting it all together; I sure don't want blind stars after all that work! It only takes a couple minutes. 1
