otto Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) I used to have that problem compounded by the addition of boxelder bugs. Millions I think..... Here's the best $25 I spend every year in the fall. Your bride will love you! http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee417/esox_xtm/Funny%20Stuff/BEB-RTS-web.jpg edit: formatting Edited November 4, 2015 by otto
OldMarine Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I left the door of my work van open in order to listen to some tunes while working on a well pump. It was dark and chilly when i finished. This morning upon turning on the defroster to clear a fog from the windshield I was sprayed by at least 100 ladybugs. I know they're harmless but so are gerbils yet i don't want a horde of those in my vicinity either.
Maserface Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) Ahh box elders leaf blower wth a vacuum/grinder works wonders on em Edited November 4, 2015 by Maserface
mabuse00 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) Here the Asien Ladybugs Harmonia axyridis have mostly taken over. The classic ladybugs have become rare.I hate them, they have a talent to wander around in place where they get squashed and spread their smell. How obout drying them. They should make a good subtrate to coat with BP Ladybug break... Edited November 4, 2015 by mabuse00 1

I can only imagine a grey cloud of ladybug stench creeping through the neighborhood like something from Exodus.
dynomike1 Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 I might just shoot them with anhydrous ammonia. Ha Ha

otto Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Seriously guys, if you have bug issues at the house I wasn't joking. One application this time of year (I usually hit the house in late Sept. or early Oct.) pretty much takes out 99.7% of the critters. When spring rolls around the "coming out" is a virtual non-event. I goes on a garden hose and applies with the included hose end sprayer. Safe for plants, pets and kids and takes about 15 minutes. It pretty innocuous as pesticides go. Pyrethrin based stuff is approved for application in food production areas. the secret here is some sort of micro-crystalline stuff that actually cuts through the tough exoskeleton so the poison can do it's job.
dynomike1 Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Deltamethrin seems to be some pretty good stuff. mostly use bifenthrin on the garden.
Nessalco Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I get an infestation of the ladybird beetles in my magazine every winter. They nestle between the stored boxes and the wall. They seem to die en masse there, and once a year I empty the mag and vacuum them out. Kevin
