Hello all!

I am going to start using two new primes for my stars.

first one is going to be Monocapa prime and the second layer will be the fencepost prime, with 10 added kno3 and fast charcoal.

my questions are, will it be ok to replace the iron oxide black to iron oxide red?, and which charcoal is the best to use, pine or vineyard charcoal? those are the ones i can use.

24.6
Potassium perchlorate
31.1
Potassium nitrate
11.5
Charcoal (air float, Willow or Paulownia)
4.1
Red gum
4.9
Sulfur
7.4
Iron Oxide (Black)
12.3
Magnalium (230 mesh, or dark aluminium)
4.1
Dextrin

replace Iron (II,III) oxide

Fe3O4

with

Iron (III) oxide

Fe2O3

possible?

Use a pine charcoal its slower and creates more sparks.. and I have used Red Iron as well as Black Iron with same results.

Psypuls, like we talked about last night, I communicate on a daily basis with Jose (Jopetes), and he is the creator of Monocapa prime. Here are a couple of tips he has shared with me. 1) Red Iron Oxide works fine, as well as Black. 2) Dark Aluminum performs a little better than MgAl, but both will work. 3) It is very important that your charcoal is hot (fast). I use Eastern Red Cedar charcoal. I have never used pine or vineyard so I am not sure which is faster. I do know however that both of these will be faster than commercial hardwood airfloat charcoal. Jose stressed to me that hot charcoal is critical in Monocapa. As for your final layer (fencepost), why are you adding 10 KNO3? You might want to consider ball milled bp + 5% silicon + 5% DE. I have had very good luck with this, again taking direction from Jopetes (Jose). If you want to see his shells (he is a professional builder), watch this video and look at the rest of his shells.

If there are any other questions you would like me to ask him, I would be glad to. Good luck!!

Would anyone happen to have video of a 1/4 Tsp burning in a line?

The batch I made burned fairly slow (ideal?) with lot's of sparks (MgAl) ???

That's the slag. It's supposed to throw it off. Not sure how fast it's supposed to be but it's definitely made to throw off sparks and slag , I think - that guy who talks to Jopetes may know different.

DaMounty, yeah Monocapa doesn't burn very fast. It burns very hot, with lots of molten slag. The crackling and sparking is the MgAl. If you make it with dark aluminum, you won't see the sparks fly like that.

He may have uploaded the videos, but those are NOT his shell's. They were made by some pyro's/friends of mine.

oops :o. Interesting <_<

I'm sure he's capable of a shell like that. Probably forgot to give credit where it's due maybe.

Hi Everyone: I think that on July 10, 2014 ( http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/9812-videos-colors-an-effects-of-pdf-jopetes/) have made it clear that the aerial shells of all the videos I posted was built by good amateur pyro, my fredhappy friends and freakduchman, they have a lot of skill in this art . The colors they have used mine colors are designed in pdf for many fans of this forum pyro podais have in your mind an idea of the colors of the pdf. I think there has been a misunderstanding on the part of some members of this forum. I do not speak English, so I have to use google translator and this can lead to misunderstandings.

Unfortunately I never could make videos of my aerial shells because I have never had a video camera of good quality, so I wanted to expose these videos with PDF colors so people have an idea in your mind of colors I pdf.Espero have solved this misunderstanding

Sorry about that Jose, my understanding was that you built these shells so I misunderstood. Apologies to everyone else too. I knew these were Jose's colors, didn't know another fella built the actual shells. Jose and I communicate a lot but sometimes the language barrier makes things a little confusing! Anyways, it is a beautiful shell and one of my favorite colors from the PDF. Jopetes, Fredhappy, and Freakydutchman are all top notch builders, for what it's worth! :)
