dusty56 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Fo some years I have avoided using chlorates. This past Fourth I cut some Red and Yellow chlorate stars. I used a perchlorate prime to reduce sensitivity. I just ordered some Barium Chlorate for green stars. My question is this. I have a silver star comp that contains no sulfur (K Perch and Aluminum) for cores. I use SGRS of most everything. Can I roll this chlorate comp on this core? Safely?
Mumbles Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 You should be fine doing that. It sounds like some silver flitter or flash core. You might need a hot prime anyway, which will help to shield them from one another. There are also potassium chlorate based silver flitters and cores.
Arthur Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Chlorates are fine IF you work within a compatable system.
rogeryermaw Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Keep ammonium perchlorate out of the room you use chlorates in. Btw I love barium chlorate for green comps. My prettiest greens have been made with it.
dusty56 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. For some reason I like green stars. I have several different comps I make.
zincsulfate Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 it is fine to use Cholerate if you can make it work better
